After releasing the CD/LP "Battered Bones" (2012 / Rookie Records - produced by Denver producer Bob Ferbrache / SLIM CESSNA'S AUTO CLUB ) and many months of touring through US / CAN and Europe, everyone must know by now that BIG JOHN BATES is the most amazing band around and always full of surprises. The band is NOTORIOUS for playing many styles of rock'n'roll, garage and blues - always with an awesome live performance ! They are a group that has succeeded in finding exciting ways to AVOID the mainstream of - what we call - rock'n'roll.

First hated, then LOVED and honored for making high-class burlesque shows popular on rock'n'roll stages, then DROPPING all that after reaching almost the peak of success, they smashed through Rustic Punk and destroyed a tuba player....And they pulled sometimes a mandolin player on stage and find their sound hidden in the qualities of AMERICANA NOIR !

Vocalist and legendary Gretsch guitar-slinger JOHN BATES now shares songwriting and singing with upright bass player / vocalist BRANDY BONES, who is infamous for gymnastic-style stunts with her huge Höfner bass. Both John and Brandy are pushed to the edge by the rhythm of Vancouver’s superb drummer J.T. MASSACRE, who definitely knows how to treat drums, beer kegs and tympani like no one else.
